"Expanding the I"
Hartung Theatre, University of Idaho 2018
Simone Weil once wrote, “The vulnerability of precious things is beautiful because vulnerability is a mark of existence”, establishing a relationship between vulnerability, beauty, and existence.
In collaboration with Professor Anna Banks, PhD and Cesar Reyes, M.F.A. at the University of Idaho, "Expanding the I" questioned if blurring the lines between “I” and “you”, “us” and “them”, “watcher” and “doer” could actualize the experience of standing in someone else’s shoes. By revealing the inevitable exchange between observer and dancer, the viewer was called to witness and co-author the ephemeral experience of performance through live-feed projection as the meaning and direction of gaze was explored.
